MULE OPEN SOURCE DOCUMENTATION:

WHAT IS OPEN SOURCE?
---------------------
Basically, this means that anyone has access to the source code
and all source resources of the game, and anyone willing is able
to modify the game as he or she wishes, and to distribute the
program. That is in short. For more detailed information, see
http://www.opensource.org .

WHAT DO I NEED TO BUILD MULE?
---------------------------------------
1) DJGPP version 2.something... (can't remember, newest will do)
2) RHIDE (I use version 1.4.7)
3) NASM (to compile assembly files)

If you don't have DJGPP, there is no easy way to compile MULE,
as a lot of the code is DJGPP specific.
If you don't have RHIDE, it is possible to build MULE, you have
to figure out dependencies for makefile youself however...

To compile graphics, run FULL.BAT.

CAN I PORT MULE TO [your favorite platform] ?
----------------------------------------------
Sure. It could be tricky, though, as MULE hasn't been designed
for other platforms. For example, making MULE a proper windows
application would require major rework. It could be done, but
it won't be easy... Also, although DJGPP is based on GNU C,
porting the game to (for example) linux may be tricky. At minumum,
everything hardware-related must be rewritten. That is, graphics,
sound and timer system.

WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO IMPLEMENT NETWORK CODE IN MULE?
----------------------------------------------------------
Yes, it would be. You'd have to write TCP/IP (or whatever)
routines, add initialization routines and implement a "remote"
player. I had remote playing in mind originally, but later on
it wasn't implemented.

IS THIS DOCUMENT COMPLETE?
--------------------------
No. Probably I have forgotten some major part, so if your question
isn't answered, you might want to answer me personally. Check out
topic "can i ask you personally about..." before you write me,
though.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO CONTRIBUTE
----------------------------------
Basically, do whatever you feel. You may do any modifications
you please, as long as we (the original authors) are credited
for original work, and end user is informed of your modifications.
Also, I ask you to keep proper version information and changes
log, so changes made by others would be easier to implement later
on.

CAN I USE FILE/DATAFORMATS USED IN MULE?
-----------------------------------------
Feel free. I don't use them anymore, as they are obsolete.

CAN I USE THE CODE FOR MY OWN PRODUCTS?
--------------------------------------------------
Do feel free to use any code of the game for your own programs,
as long as I am (or, if not me, the author responsible for the code
you use, is) credited.
Most of the code here is obsolete. I use C++ nowadays, and although
some code is still in use (sprite system, in optimized form, for
example), many algorihms and pieces of code you may see in MULE are
ineffective or too task specific to be useful nowadays.

CAN I ASK YOU PERSONALLY ABOUT ...
------------------------------------------
Short answer: "yes, you can."
Longer answer: "yes, you can. However, I do not guarantee any answer.
I try to answer all queries, but don't count on it."
